Runway is an AI video platform. It generates video from text prompts and reference images, edits existing footage, and also produces images and audio. Its own models include Gen-4.5 and Aleph, and it is used by filmmakers, editors, and marketing teams.

How it works

You pick a model, enter a prompt or upload a reference image or clip, and generate a result that you can extend or edit. Each generation consumes credits, with the cost depending on the model and length. Alongside its own Gen-4 family, Runway also offers third-party video, image, and audio models and Topaz upscaling.

Runway suits video creators who want generation and editing in one place: concept clips, visual effects shots, and social video. Occasional users can start on the free plan, while regular production work needs a paid credit allowance.

Pricing and limits

The Free plan includes 125 one-time credits. Standard is $15 per month, or $12 when billed annually, with 625 credits per month. Pro is $35 per month, or $28 billed annually, with 2,250 credits. Max is $95 per month, or $76 billed annually, with 9,500 credits that roll over for one month.
