Description

Claude Code is the agentic coding tool made by Anthropic. It runs in your terminal, reads the project you point it at, makes changes across multiple files, and runs commands such as tests and builds. It is aimed at developers who want to delegate whole tasks rather than accept line-by-line suggestions.

How it works

You start Claude Code inside a repository and describe the task in plain language. It explores the relevant files, proposes or applies edits, runs commands, and iterates on the results. You review the changes and give feedback in the same session.

Who it is for

It suits developers comfortable with a command-line workflow who work on larger changes: refactoring modules, implementing features from a spec, or tracking down bugs that span several files. Teams can use it under Team and Enterprise plans.

Pricing and limits

Claude Code is not sold separately. It is included with Claude Pro at $20 per month, Max from $100 per month, and Team from $25 per seat per month, and it is not part of the Free plan. Its usage counts against the same limits as the rest of the plan. It can also be used with pay-as-you-go API billing.

Key Features

  • Codebase-aware edits

Reads the relevant files before changing them and edits several files in one task.

  • Runs commands

Executes tests, builds, and other shell commands and reacts to the output.

  • Terminal workflow

Works where you already run git and your tooling, with no separate editor required.

  • Included with Claude plans

Available on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise under the plan's usage limits.

Use Cases

  • Feature implementation

Turn a written spec into a working change across the files it touches.

  • Refactoring

Restructure a module and update its callers and tests together.

  • Debugging

Reproduce a failure, trace the cause through the code, and apply a fix.
