Description

FLUX is the family of image generation and editing models made by Black Forest Labs. The models are offered through the company's own API and playground, and several are released as open weights that developers can run themselves. FLUX is used by developers, product teams, and many third-party image tools.

How it works

Developers call the Black Forest Labs API with a prompt, and optionally reference images, and receive the generated image. The lineup includes FLUX.2 in flex, pro, max, and klein variants, plus tools for outpainting, erasing, and virtual try-on. Open-weight models can be downloaded from Hugging Face and GitHub and run on your own infrastructure.

Who it is for

FLUX suits developers building image features into a product and teams that want to host a model themselves. People who only need a ready-made image app usually reach FLUX through another service that is built on it.

Pricing and limits

The API is pay-as-you-go with no subscriptions or seat fees, and you pay only for what you generate. The cost depends on the model and the output resolution, and Black Forest Labs publishes a calculator on its pricing page. Open-weight models have their own license terms.
