NovelAI is a subscription service for AI-assisted storytelling and anime-style image generation, made by Anlatan. Writers use it to co-write fiction that continues in their own style, and artists use it to generate and edit anime art. It is aimed at fiction writers, role-players, and illustrators.

How it works

For stories, you write a passage and the AI continues it, and you edit or redirect the text as you go. For images, you describe a scene and adjust the result with inpainting and Director Tools, which change poses, clothing, and lighting. Image generation is paid for with a currency called Anlas.

Who it is for

NovelAI suits people writing long-form fiction who want a collaborator that remembers earlier context, and artists focused on anime styles. It is not a general-purpose assistant for business writing.

Pricing and limits

There are three tiers. Tablet is $10 per month and includes 1,000 Anlas. Scroll is $15 per month with a larger context size, so the AI remembers more of the story. Opus is $25 per month with the largest context and 10,000 Anlas refilled monthly. Extra Anlas can be bought on demand, and new users get a trial period.
